“Run Forest …. run!” Forget Forest Gump ….. in Mozambique the ladies are in a race of their own …. and they are flying. The focus on the ladies in Mozambique are primary to teach them to read and write using the Bible as tool. Many of the ladies were not able to read or write but through the Ladies Ministry miracles are happening daily.
In Mozambique ladies are the backbone of not only the economy, but without them no household will be able to operate. “What does the men do”, I hear you ask. Well ….. I don’t really know …. maybe they are the visionaries of the family.
Eunice, a Mozambiqean lady is working closely with Alta in the different schools for ladies deep in the bushes. Schools have been increased since end of 2006 from 10 to a currently 19 schools …. and they are still growing. Eunice have her own family to take care of but she is working non-stop and has a great passion for the ladies in Mozambique. When you ask her why she loves her job …. she says: “We must teach our women to stand up in our communities …. we have something to say and should do so with respect.”
There are many plans for 2007 but one of the biggest dreams is to buildt an arts and crafts centre where these ladies can sell their arts and crafts. Alta is busy teaching and translating knitting patterns in Shona. The ladies are currently knitting and beading. A special beading project has started with help from Barbara Rainford from England. We currently have markets in England and Canada and as soon as products are finished they will be sold in these and other countries. WE INVITE YOU – be part of this project. HOW? Well you could start to donate wool etc. to the ladies. Contact us via this page or on lovemoz@sg.org.za – we will make a plan to get to you asap.
