Brazil has a massive population of more than 214 million people. Through Harvesters Ministries we are opening the way in Brazil so that the lost can know Jesus. We have planted has 4 active church streams in this breath taking country filled with amazing people, rich cultures and mostly challenges that will leave you breathless. But it is a place where God is working ….. and we feel privileged joining what God is doing.
The “Missionaries’ Graveyard”
Goiânia is known as the “missionaries’ graveyard”. Churches are dying here – conflict between churches and a total lack of evangelism has nearly destroyed this city of 5 million people. Many churches gave up completely and most of them are hanging in there waiting for God to reveal Himself.
In the streets Satan is running rampant and the T-shirts that many are wearing, proclaims their gospel: Satan is love!
Pastors getting ready to go out on the streets of Goiania!
Pastors praying and getting ready to go out on the streets of Goiania. For many pastors this will be the first time ever doing evangelism outside of the church!
Matthew 24:12”Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold.”
God is good – ALWAYS!
Opening a door into this stronghold of Satan was quite challenging. But we found a few good men and women who were willing to evangelise the lost in their city.
God opened an amazing door for Harvesters to work here. But pushing through the door meant a few meetings and re-sharing Harvesters’ vision with pastors. Our motto – ‘Opening the way’ led the conversation as God opened the door!
From the outset the training was difficult as we were bombarded with questions, but it was through evangelism that God revealed Himself!
Out on the streets sharing the Gospel! Nothing has changed through 2000 years …..

Setting the example was crucial. We had to join the evangelism team and personally lead souls to Christ. It was great leading these 2 brothers (see photo above) to Jesus Christ. Tears of joy were flowing freely and the heavens rejoiced over the souls that turned to Christ.
It is so important for pastors to go out and practice street evangelism. It doesn’t matter how sophisticated or learned a group is – it will change them forever, as it did these group of pastors.
Many of the pastors were never ever exposed to evangelism! It sounds scary and impossible to believe – but they have never shared their faith outside of their congregations. The result was outstanding!
17 Precious souls found Jesus in an hour, as the team shared the Gospel with 45 people. If this group of pastors can make such an amazing impact in just one hour, imagine what they can do with even more time!
Acts 2:21 “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Catching the vision
Sharing the strategic plan on how to bring in not just the lost souls but how to make DISCIPLES in the process.
When sharing the Harvesters vision it is truly the Holy Spirit that changes the mind set of pastors! To pour new wine in old sacks is simply impossible. Time and again we have experienced how God miraculously intervenes.
We are excited about what God is going to do in Brazil – and specifically in Goiânia.
Do not lose hope
Not everyone will respond during evangelism outreaches. Sometimes pastors do not even respond positively to church planting. We must just keep on pressing forward, never stop praying and if God has called you to lead – LEAD!
Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Church growth and discipleship is IMPOSSIBLE if it doesn’t start through EVANGELISM. Missionary Leila from Brazilia sharing the Gospel with the lost and hungry.
